1. Successful launch of Chandrayaan 3

Thanks to ISRO, India became the first country to set foot on the south pole of the Moon. The location is rich with scientific potential as it contains permanently shadowed craters that may contain water ice. Using advanced equipment, landers and rovers are investigating the structure of the Moon and searching for this hidden treasure.

2. Aditya-L1 launched

Aditya L1, launched by India in September, orbits the Sun and provides uninterrupted views. Its instruments are capable of probing the blazing corona and stormy chromosphere, revealing solar mysteries that affect Earth’s temperature and space weather. The mission is also offering discoveries and paving the way for improved forecasting.

3. Gaganyaan Mission

ISRO’s Gaganyaan Mission plans to launch its first solo orbital journey in late 2024 to test spacecraft and systems. A crewed mission will launch in late 2025, taking three astronauts on a 7-day trip to 400 kilometres above Earth. The objective of this historic journey is to make India the fourth country with human spaceflight capability and to inspire future generations.

4. First launch of India’s largest rocket, LVM-3-M4

Nicknamed “Baahubali”, this powerful rocket showcased ISRO’s growing strength in heavy-lift launch vehicles. Carrying 36 OneWeb satellites into orbit, LVM3-M4 paves the way for ambitious missions like Gaganyaan and Chandrayaan-4, enabling heavier payloads and deeper journeys into the universe.

5. ISRO’s Atomic Clock

Moving towards advanced navigation: After creating the first atomic clock, ISRO has the potential to completely replace GPS and other navigational systems. This technology will benefit scientific research, weather forecasting and telecommunications by offering large improvements in accuracy.

6. PSLV-C53 Mission

ISRO broke its record by launching 104 satellites on a single PSLV-C53 Mission. This cost-effective and reliable launch service establishes India’s effective position as a global leader, providing access to space to many countries and organizations.

8. Reusable Launch Vehicle Autonomous Landing Mission (RLV Lex)

9. ISRO Space Activities Mission Directorate (SMAD)

Set up in 2023, SAMAD focuses on promoting private participation in the Indian space sector. The initiative encourages private companies to develop space technologies and services, create a thriving space ecosystem and advance India’s space economy.

10. Inspiring the Next Generation through Education and Outreach Programmes
