The Global Technology Summit, held with Carnegie India and the Ministry of External Affairs, is a major platform to discuss digital public infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, quantum computing, and global tech governance. This time, its 9th edition is running from 10-12 April 2025, and the theme is ‘Sambhavna’ – Meaningful opportunities. Public sessions started on April 11, in which 150+ speakers from 40+ countries came. This day was open to all and was like a festival for fans of digital public infrastructure!

What happened on April 11, 2025? Day 2 Highlights with Digital Public Infrastructure

April 11 was Day 2, and it was a very action-packed day, especially with discussions on digital public infrastructure! The public sessions took the energy to the next level. Let’s cover everything:

Great start to public sessions

Day 2 was the beginning of the public sessions, and it was open to all! Students, professionals, and tech lovers participated in massive numbers. The vibe has been inspirational since this morning when global leaders shared digital public infrastructure and tech ideas. A post on X said, “Day 1 of public sessions was high-energy with digital public infrastructure stealing the show!” – and this was the vibe the whole day!

Role of Digital Public Infrastructure in AI Governance

A lot of discussion also took place on AI governance, and digital public infrastructure was a big part of it. Experts discussed how systems like Digital Public Infrastructure are necessary to make Artificial Intelligence safe and inclusive. Speakers such as Henri Verdier (French Ambassador for Digital Affairs) and Sunil Abraham (Meta India) shed light on the connection of digital public infrastructure with data governance and AI ethics. One takeaway was: “AI and DPI together will bring empowerment.” The session was so impactful that it created a buzz on social media!

Digital Public Infrastructure: India’s Global Star

India’s digital public infrastructure – such as UPI, Aadhaar, and CoWin – is dominating the global stage. S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, said in one of the sessions that India’s digital public infrastructure model is an inspiration for the Global South. He said, “Digital public infrastructure is not just tech, it’s trust.” The audience appreciated this point very much. Systems like UPI and Aadhaar showed how digital public infrastructure can bring inclusive growth.

Space security was also discussed in one session, during which ISRO’s contributions were highlighted. One speaker said, “Space is the new frontier, and India’s DPI can support it.” It was a proud moment to hear this!

GTS Young Ambassadors talked about the future of DPI

The GTS Young Ambassadors Program won everyone’s hearts! Young professionals shared ideas on digital public infrastructure, responsible AI, and digital futures. One young ambassador said, “DPI is our future, and we want it to be inclusive.” This program shows that digital public infrastructure is not just for today but also for the next generation.

Discussion of Digital Public Infrastructure in Keynote Addresses

Day 2 saw a lot of keynote speeches. Ashley J. Tellis, Tata Chair for Strategic Affairs, Carnegie Endowment, spoke on quantum computing and AI-driven geopolitics, where he also touched upon the role of digital public infrastructure. In the second keynote, Rudra Chaudhuri, Director of Carnegie India, shed light on tech partnerships and the future of digital public infrastructure. These sessions were so engaging that the audience had no end of questions!

Networking with Digital Public Infrastructure Focus

Apart from public sessions, there was a massive craze for digital public infrastructure in networking. Attendees discussed DPI-based ideas with global experts, and startups pitched their DPI-related projects.
